Republicans can imagine supporting a military coup in the USA:  YouGov reports “Republicans (43%) are more than twice as likely as Democrats (20%) to say that they could conceive of a situation in which they would support a military coup in the United States.” Perhaps it’s because Republicans really are aching for America to be refreshed “with the blood of patriots and tyrants,” as Thomas Jefferson once argued. America’s 50 most influential political thinkers: Politico has compiled a list of the crème de la crème thinkers, doers and visionaries transforming American politics in 2015. John Oliver makes the list, as does Bernie Sanders, Elon Musk and Pope Francis. Unfortunately, my name was omitted this year. The Bush tax cuts are back!  Yesterday, Jeb! Bush unveiled his tax plan and as the Washington Post claims, “If you liked the Bush tax cuts, good news. They’re back, just with more exclamation points.” Recall, if you will, that Jeb! has promised 4 percent economic growth if he is elected president. However, his tax plan “isn’t different enough that growth should be that different.” It’s essentially Bush tax cuts 2.0 and we know how well that tax plan treated the economy. War Should Be the Last Option, By Bernie Sanders: Yesterday, Bernie penned a column on his website which explained his support for the controversial Iran Deal. It is most certainly worth a read. His messaging on this matter is second to none: It is my firm belief that the test of a great nation, with the most powerful military on earth, is not how many wars we can engage in, but how we can use our strength and our capabilities to resolve international conflicts in a peaceful way.
