Hillary Clinton pivots left on immigration Politico – Annie Karni. “We cannot wait any longer for a path to full and equal citizenship.” With these words, Hillary Clinton unveiled her first substantial (and bold) policy pledge for the 2016 race. And for those Democratic voters that have worried about her lack of progressive bona fides, this announcement surely assuages some of those fears. Clinton no doubt used this policy platform to appease the far-left and Latinos, but she also prudently took this opportunity to draw a sharp distinction between herself and all other Republican candidates on the issue. She went onto say,   This is where I differ from everyone on the Republican side. Make no mistake, today not a single Republican candidate, announced or potential, is clearly and consistently supporting a path to citizenship. Not one. When they talk about legal status, that is code for second-class status. 63% of Americans say money and wealth distribution is unfair. Only 52% support heavy taxes on rich: A recent Gallup poll  shows that wealth-distribution attitudes are (unsurprisingly) strongly correlated with party affiliation. For example, a majority of Republicans view that the wealth distribution in the US is fair as it is – even though studies show the gap in US wealth to be more extreme than any time since the Great Depression . Jerry Falwell is rolling in his grave: According to a Wall Street Journal/NBC poll , more Americans now feel more comfortable with a gay presidential candidate than with an evangelical one . This is bad news for Mike Huckabee, whose recent entrance into the crowded GOP field caused our own Paul Constant to point out that the Republican race is beginning to appear like a clown show . US private sector adds 169,000 jobs in April:  Reuters reports that these job numbers are the lowest since January 2014 and were far below economists’ expectations. Comments comments
